Are We Back on the Road to Serfdom? Is Liberty in Jeopardy?

The Reagan conservative movement focused intently on ensuring that the God given liberty, protected by the U.S. Constitution, was not stolen from us by a government that was growing and consuming more and more of our lives. I think we could all use some reminders of the conservative ideals that made Ronald Reagan the greatest president yet. So to quote the Gipper:
“Power has always been the enemy of liberty.”
Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.
Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Governments tend not to solve problems, only to rearrange them.
No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!
The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much.
Without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure.
Millions of individuals making their own decisions in the marketplace will always allocate resources better than any centralized government planning process.
The best social program is a productive job for anyone who's willing to work.
Our friends in the other party will never forgive us for our success, and are doing everything in their power to rewrite history. Listening to the liberals, you'd think that the 1980s were the worst period since the Great Depression, filled with suffering and despair. I don't know about you, but I'm getting awfully tired of the whining voices from the White House these days. They're claiming there was a decade of greed and neglect, but you and I know better than that. We were there.
Each generation goes further than the generation preceding it because it stands on the shoulders of that generation. You will have opportunities beyond anything we've ever known.
Are we crippling our selves such that our children will have no shoulders to stand on?
It is time to renew the quest for securing our liberty before it is too late. Our government is expanding and devouring more and more of our liberties with each new program it forces upon us.
Government is not the answer, it is the greatest enemy of liberty.
I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts.

Friedrich Hayek gave America a wakeup call once before, maybe it’s time to revive his wakeup call.
