Is the Administration’s attack of Fox News another diversion or is this the another battle in the war of silencing the opposition to the social justification of America?The main stream media should be outraged by the actions of the Administration, and yet, they remain silent on the real issue. The founding fathers understood that if the government was in control of the the press, then limiting their power would be nearly impossible.
Here we have an obvious attempt by the government to isolate and alienate a legitimate news organization, attacking the very freedom that journalists have claimed sacred. The silence of the media and the focus on the negative impact to the Administration instead of the threat to freedom of the press is disturbing to say the least.
The National Press Club has been silent and yet in a press release on October 18, the NPC criticized the military for barring embedded reporters from publishing photos of US military personnel injured or killed in action. This release included the following quote:
"In a democracy, the news media serve a critical watchdog role on the three branches of government. When government seeks to control the media, it weakens that independence and devalues the information released to the press and the public."
These watchdogs are definitely falling down on this issue and are failing to see the gravity of letting the administration get a free pass in its attempt to take control of the media.
Wake up journalists, your independence has been weakened and your information is being devalued.
