Long Term Financial Stability at Risk

The new GAO report  on the U.S. long-term fiscal outlook casts a long shadow on the economic recovery.  The picture is very bleak.  And yet, members of Congress, the Administration and the media refuse to see the writing on the wall.  The long term issues will remain long after the return to economic stability.  The near-term issues even put this return in jeopardy.
As a country, we have many tough difficult decisions to make and they need to be made now.   Entitlements are on the verge of collapse and the current debt path is unsustainable.  We must fix entitlements now (see Fix Entitlements).
Everyone agrees that the health care system needs to be fixed.  However, the proposals being put forth by the administration and Democratic Congress will only make the debt picture worse and fail to fix the real problems with they system.   We must fix health care without destroying our economy even further (See Fixes That Won’t Break America) .
Our public officials must head the warnings of it’s own agencies and have the moral fortitude to make the right decisions to get America back on the road to economic prosperity.
